Accepting these terms
These terms apply when you use this website or hire Cornerstone Columbia Concrete for concrete work. By browsing the site, sending us a request or agreeing to an estimate, you accept them.
If you don't agree with any part of these terms, please don't use the site or book work with us. You can always go back to the home page or contact us with questions first.
What we do
Cornerstone Columbia Concrete is a concrete contractor in Columbia, TN. We build driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, garage floors, slabs, footings, retaining walls and other flatwork, which covers any concrete poured flat on the ground, for homes and properties in Columbia and the cities around it.
The information on this site describes our work in general terms. It isn't a promise about your particular job, because every site has different soil, drainage and access. The exact scope of your job is what's written in your estimate or contract. You can read more about who we are on our About page.
Estimates and pricing
We give free quotes on site, and they're obligation-free. An estimate is our price for the work it describes, based on what we can see and measure on the day we visit.
Some things only show up once the old concrete is out or the ground is dug, like soft or wet subgrade, which is the soil the slab sits on, buried roots, old footings or utility lines. If we find something that changes the work, we'll stop, explain it to you and agree on any change in price before we go on. We won't add charges you haven't approved.
An estimate stays good for the period written on it. After that, material prices may have changed, so we may need to update it.
Scheduling and cancellation
We'll give you a start date when you accept the estimate. Concrete depends on the weather, so we may move a pour for rain, freezing temperatures or extreme heat, because pouring in bad conditions makes a weaker slab. We'll tell you as soon as we know and set the next workable date.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please call us at (931) 286-9065 as early as you can. If you cancel after we've ordered materials or set forms, you may owe for those materials and the work already done, as described in your contract.
Once the concrete is poured, it needs time to cure, which is the waiting period while it hardens and gains strength. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk and drive on it. Using it sooner can damage it, and that damage isn't covered by our guarantee.
Payment terms
Your estimate or contract sets out what you pay and when, including any deposit and the final payment. Unless your contract says otherwise, the final balance is due when the work is finished.
If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's settled, and you'll be responsible for reasonable costs of collecting what's owed, as allowed by Tennessee law.
Our guarantee and its limits
We're fully licensed and insured, and our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. If something about our workmanship isn't right, call us and we'll come look at it and make it right where the problem comes from our work.
Concrete can still develop small hairline cracks over time, even when it's built well. We cut control joints, which are planned grooves that give the slab a place to crack in a straight line, so cracks show up where we chose rather than across the middle. Hairline cracks, small color differences and normal wear aren't defects.
Our guarantee doesn't cover damage from things outside our control, such as heavy vehicles the slab wasn't built for, deicing salts, tree roots, ground movement, flooding, changes to drainage made after we leave, or use before the concrete has cured. Except for what's written in your contract, we don't make any other promises, spoken or implied.
Limits on our liability
As far as Tennessee law allows, our total responsibility for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. We aren't responsible for indirect losses, like lost use of a space or lost income.
We'll mark and protect what we can on site, but please tell us before work starts about sprinkler lines, buried cables, septic systems and anything else underground that we may not know about. We aren't responsible for damage to items you didn't tell us about and that weren't marked.
This website is offered as is. We try to keep it accurate, but we don't promise it's free of errors or always available.
Working out a disagreement
If you're unhappy with anything, call us first. Most problems get settled with a conversation on site, and we'd rather fix it than argue about it.
If we can't settle it between us, we both agree to try mediation in good faith before going to court. Any lawsuit will be filed in the state or county courts that serve Maury County, Tennessee.
Governing law
These terms and any work we do are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to the rules of any other state.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted on this page is the one that applies. Changes don't affect a contract you've already signed with us.
If you have a question about these terms, reach us through our Contact page or call (931) 286-9065. We're available seven days a week, 8 AM to 9 PM, and we reply within 1 business day.
